Author(s): Sulaman ALMesned, Ali A. Alakhfash, Fahd S. Almesned, Abdurrahman Almesned

Economic issues facing healthcare leaders are significant and challenging. There are increasing demands, limited budgets, and rising costs. There is an ethical, political, and social dilemma of rationing healthcare. Economic evaluation is a powerful tool in healthcare rationing and can be implemented at different levels in the decision-making framework of healthcare organizations. This review article aims to discuss what is economic evaluation and rationing and how to ration healthcare. Rationing healthcare is inevitable; hence nations should do it explicitly. We presented in this review the definition of economic evaluation and rationing and levels or types of healthcare rationing.
